Honey Fact of the Month: SeptemberTheme: Sickle Cell Awareness + Back to School + Reclaiming Rhythm
Honey Fact:
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, a deeply personal reality for many Black families. Despite being the most common inherited blood disorder in the U.S., sickle cell remains underfunded, misunderstood, and overlooked.
It’s also the month kids head back to school — which often means chaos, transition, and survival mode for caregivers.
Why It Matters:
Care doesn’t pause when routines shift.
And chronic conditions like sickle cell deserve the same spotlight, funding, and compassion we give to any other diagnosis.
We hold our babies close in September — not just with pencils and planners, but with prayer, protection, and cultural memory.
Personal Truth:
My brother has lived with type 1 diabetes since before I was born.
Caregiving has always been in my story — wrapped in family, survival, and love.
I see you, families navigating invisible diagnoses. I see you, kids who carry more than just backpacks.
